ENSURE QUALITY OF EDUCATION
- Managing daily routines and child attendance, including daily preparation of the Montessori Environment; indoors and outdoors
- Ensuring that record keeping, and Bird’s Eye View of Montessori presentations are updated weekly and making two relevant materials per term
- Planning monthly projection: per child, per area and executing simulative exercises for all areas of the children’s developmental milestones and child’s interests
- Identifying developmental needs and concerns relating to children through monthly observation, research and referring to multi-disciplinary specialists when needed
Monitor that each child is presented to at least twice a week; a minimum of 10 times per month covering all areas of the environment
Developing Parent Relationships
Building parent relationships through communication and feedback on a daily basis, verbal and written.
- Communicating with, and educating parents on the child’s wellbeing and imparting knowledge of Montessori philosophy through newsletters and reports
Address and resolve parent concerns with the HoD and parents timeously
Manage Health and Safety
Identify health and safety hazards in the work area both indoor and outdoor through weekly risk assessments and daily checks
- Manage health and safety hazards in the learning environment through taking the appropriate action to correct the situation
- Management of incident and accident procedures and the escalation process
- Awareness, knowledge, recording and liaising with the pediatric nurse regarding allergies and illnesses
Active and vigilant playground duty at all times
Administration
Monitor, evaluate and update learners’ profiles on a weekly basis and inform the HoD regarding changes of parent contact details
- Assisting with chairing of meetings and taking of minutes, ensuring that staff meetings are conducted in a professional manner
- Produce professional verbal and written progress reports for each individual child on a quarterly basis
Keep abreast of policies and procedures and review their relevance
Plan Quarterly Events
Considering the customers (children, parents and team) needs when planning the school and class project with consideration of the allocated budget.
- Participate in the overall school project plan as well as departmental projects
- Briefing with the HoDs & project team on a continuous basis leading up to the project completion
- Innovation and implementation of new ideas relating to the school
- Communicating information to all involved parties in a timeous manner to ensure the project success
Organize a post-mortem after the completion of the project and report to HoD or principal
Qualifications & Experience
Primary Qualification - Accredited Montessori Diploma
- Secondary Qualification – Bachelor’s Degree / Higher Diploma in Education advantageous
- Additional - Early Childhood Development (ECD) Diploma advantageous
- First Aid certificate Level 1 essential
- First Aid certificate Level 2 and/or 3 advantageous
- Qualification and practical completion of hours to be certified directress
3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role

Responsibilities:
- Develop, supervise and track every child’s development plan and daily routine
- Ensure consistent record keeping and development of new material on a regular basis
- Develop relationships with parents and ensure relevant communications are received and understood
- Supervise health and safety measures within the environment; identify and create awareness of safety and health hazards
- Produce verbal and written progress reports
- Plan, supervise and communicate quarterly events in line with customer and budget requirement
