Job Title: Third in Charge
Reports to: Nursery Manager / Deputy Manager
Location: Georgie Porgies Network Nurseries - Woodhouse Park
Contract Type: Full Time
Working Hours: 35 - 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

As the Third in Charge, you will support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in the smooth and effective running of the nursery. You will play a key role in the leadership team, taking responsibility for day-to-day operations in their absence, ensuring high standards of care, education, and compliance are maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Nursery Manager and Deputy in the overall management of the nursery.
  • Lead the nursery in the absence of the Manager and Deputy, ensuring continuity and quality of care and education.
  • Act as a role model for the staff team, promoting best practice in safeguarding, health & safety, EYFS delivery, and partnership with parents.
  • Support and mentor nursery staff, contributing to their development through guidance, supervision, and performance reviews.
  • Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that promotes the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of all children.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, including observations, assessments, and safeguarding documentation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers, providing regular feedback and updates.
  • Support with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Assist with administrative tasks as delegated by the management team.
  • Ensure nursery policies and procedures are fully adhered to at all times.
