Are you passionate about both patient care and nursing education? UPMC Hamot School of Nursing is looking for a dynamic Full-Time Nursing Instructor/Professional Nurse to join our team! This unique dual-role position offers the opportunity to influence patient outcomes while also shaping the next generation of nurses.

POSITION SUMMARY

In this dual role, you will serve as both a Professional Nurse and a Nursing Instructor, blending clinical expertise with teaching excellence. As a Nursing Instructor, you will guide and evaluate students in the clinical setting, ensuring they gain the knowledge and experience to deliver safe, high-quality care. As a Professional Nurse, you will serve as a role model and direct care provider, setting standards of excellence in nursing practice.

CLINICAL INSTRUCTION & EDUCATION

  • Guide, instruct, and evaluate nursing students during clinical practicum experiences.
  • Provide clinical instruction grounded in best practices and current nursing education theory.
  • Create meaningful, individualized clinical assignments based on student learning needs.
  • Deliver timely and constructive feedback and evaluations to students.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence and serve as a mentor and preceptor.
  • Promote cultural competency, civility, and inclusion in educational settings.

EDUCATIONAL & ORGANIZATIONAL ENGAGEMENT

  • Participate in faculty committees and contribute to school governance.
  • Utilize information technology to enhance the teaching-learning process.
  • Support continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, and clinical education.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, peers, patients, and faculty.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



    • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required

    • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
    • Precepting experience required; clinical teaching in a pre-licensure program preferred
    • Previous teaching experience preferred
    • Appointment and retention contingent upon approval by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
