Now Hiring: Casual Nursing Instructor UPMC Jameson School of Nursing at Hamot Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Instructor to join our team full-time at UPMC Jameson School of Nursing at Hamot. The ideal candidate will be a nursing professional who demonstrates leadership, expertise, and a passion for educating future nurses. This role includes both classroom (didactic) and clinical instruction and involves guiding and evaluating students in the application of the nursing process to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience. Key Responsibilities: Provide effective instruction in both classroom and clinical settings. Lead course faculty to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Serve as a professional role model, promoting trust, respect, professionalism, and caring. Develop and implement strategies that support diverse learning needs. Foster an inclusive, respectful educational environment. Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to guide students. Design evidence-based teaching strategies informed by current research. Engage in the development and review of school policies. Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives. Serve on school committees and support shared leadership efforts. Maintain active membership in professional nursing organizations. Contribute to professional development activities and mentorship. Demonstrate clinical competence and mastery of course content. Minimum Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required. Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience. Precepting experience required. Clinical teaching experience in a pre-licensure program preferred. Previous classroom teaching experience preferred. Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification preferred. Appointment and continued employment contingent on approval by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) licensure OR multistate license under the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (AHA-compliant) within 30 days of hire. UPMC-approved nursing certification preferred. Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance (with renewal). Act 34 Criminal Background Check (with renewal). Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal). Note: Employees with out-of-state NLC licenses who relocate to Pennsylvania will have 60 days to obtain PA licensure. Why Join Us?
