Job Summary: The Nursing Manager is responsible for the general oversite of all nursing staff and others as assigned. This position functions as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary health care team assuring that all nursing services are provided in a manner conducive to the individual’s scope of practice while assuring quality to those MHC serves. The Nursing Manager assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to assure compliance with standards of care associated with nursing practices; and functions as a mid-level manager with all responsibilities that apply.   Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises the nursing staff per the organizational chart.     Duties/Responsibilities: 1. Provides oversight and supervision of nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CMAs, and Health Aids. May assume responsibility for other positions such as medical records as assigned. 2. Assumes responsibility for the performance of nursing staff as part of the care delivery team. This includes the assurance or direct responsibility for hiring, training, scheduling, and task or work assignments, performance reviews, corrective actions, and termination of staff under the supervision of this position. 3. Assures nursing coverage for optimal clinic flow, concise scheduling and understanding of site-specific needs for coverage. This is demonstrated through effective scheduling of staff with prioritized contingency work patterns and abilities to adapt staffing, both incidental overstaffing and understaffing patterns to adjust timely as events or situations change. 4. Works with management and/or designated staff to assure nursing processes continually improve quality in patient care outcomes and ensures patient and staff safety. 5. Partners with operational staff to implement and maintain an effective and efficient inventory management system that assures adequate levels of medical supplies, facility needs are met, and operational processes are established and maintained in order to support clinical care.  This includes inventory control of medications, medical supplies, environment of care issues, and off- site supervision strategies.    6. Demonstrates detailed understanding of clinical policies, procedures, and standing orders and the ability to develop and assure continuity of implementation among all staff.  7. Works with the AOM, HR, the COO, the CMO, and the CEO to prioritize and assist in the planning of training activities, staff meetings, and identifies areas of need in regards to staff training.  8. Coordinates or assures the coordination of nursing student rotations and  student experiences,, providing quality educational experiences for the students, assuring and maintaining positive patient experiences, and minimizing disruption to office flow.   9. Engages in healthy conflict resolution strategies as a first line of management to address conflicts between patients and staff, staff within the unit, between units, and among peers with the best interest of MHC and its long term success as the primary purpose.  May work with patients and families to address concerns and grievance issues related to clinical care when the AOM is not available. 10. Monitors compliance in maintaining an efficient, safe, secure, orderly and aseptic clinical environment of care for patients and employees. This includes appropriate maintenance, training and use of medical equipment to staff, i.e. autoclaves, EKG/Spirometer, BP monitor etc. 11. Maintains clinical expertise and competencies to assist in patient care if needed and to assure the delivery of quality health care by being able to perform in all aspects of nursing care services for self and staff under the supervision of this position according to their scope of practice and competency expectations.   12. Assures a system of nursing triage that will act as a resource to reception processes to assess patient health care needs in relationship to access for appointment scheduling, acuity determination, and/or denial for non-emergent needs when appropriate according to policy.    13. Acts as a key member of the management team in order to represent his/her division among his/her peers and to work within an integrated system to coordinate operations in recognition to the utilization of staff outside of this position’s direct supervision. 14. Performs other duties as assigned. Duties 1 through 13 are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. All other job duties are secondary functions.   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  * Ability to efficiently carry out Midtown Health’s Center mission statement and comply with its policies and procedures.  * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and the public and to be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity. * Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance to HIPAA regulations. * Ability to comply with all occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). * Ability to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to address clinic’s needs. * Ability to interpret oral and written instructions and do appropriate follow-up. * Ability to work independently and as a team member. * Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills. * Ability to constructively participate in quality improvement efforts. * Ability to actively participate in marketing and outreach activities when requested and emergency response events when required. * Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills highly desired. * LPN and RN must have knowledge and ability to practice in accordance with the State of Nebraska’s Nurse Practice Act. * Must have knowledge of community health nursing principles and practices and clinic functions. * Must have knowledge of community health resources for alternate health services. * Ability to navigate EHR, NESIIS, and communicable disease reporting systems.   Education and Experience, Licensure and Certification: * Nursing degree from an accredited college/university required. * Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.  * Two years nursing experience in a clinical setting preferred. * Leadership and Supervisory experience preferred. * Knowledge of Joint Commission standards preferred.  * Experience in program development and implementation preferred. * Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to utilize own transportation for work purposes.   Physical Requirements:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
