NURSING SUPPORT WORKER

We are currently seeking a full-time Nursing Support Worker to join our team on-site in South Australia. As a large-scale construction project company, this role will be responsible for ensuring health and safety on project sites, to meet the unique needs of construction and project environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION & SKILLS

  • At least a relevant AQF Certificate III, or 2 years of relevant work experience to substitute for the qualification.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ relevant experience within the last 3 years
  • Proficiency in basic medical and nursing procedures
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and technology
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families
  • Demonstrating understanding and sensitivity towards patients’ needs, emotions, and situations
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and provide calm, effective care
Responsibilities
  1. Health Monitoring and Assessment:
  • Conduct regular drug and alcohol tests for workers to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform routine health assessments, including measuring blood pressure and other vital signs.
  • Maintain accurate records of health assessments and test results.
  • Monitor workers for signs of fatigue or stress and take appropriate action.
  1. First Aid and Emergency Response:
  • Act as the primary first aider and site paramedic, providing immediate care to injured or ill workers.
  • Assess the severity of injuries and illnesses and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Administer basic first aid and medical treatment on-site.
  • Coordinate with external medical services for the transportation and care of seriously injured or ill workers.
  1. Injury Management and Rehabilitation:
  • Provide nursing care to workers with direct or indirect work-related injuries.
  • Assist injured workers with mobility and communication needs.
  • Follow therapy plans and interventions to support workers with post-injury recovery.
  • Assist with rehabilitation and basic exercises as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Administer medications as needed and ensure proper documentation.
  1. Health and Safety Support:
  • Assist the HSE Manager with implementing health and safety protocols and procedures.
  • Observe and report any changes in workers’ conditions or complaints about care.
  • Participate in planning and executing health and safety initiatives.
  • Provide direct support and assistance to the HSE Manager in various tasks and projects.
  1. General Responsibilities:
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for workers.
  • Ensure all medical equipment and supplies are well-maintained and stocked.
  • Participate in health and safety training sessions and meetings.
  • Maintain a clean and organised first aid station and medical records.
