Description: Job Summary Assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care to a specific patient population. Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Licensed Nurse. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Work Experience 1 year Acute Patient Care Experience required Licenses and Certifications Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Basic Life Support (BLS) required Essential Functions PATIENT CARE RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs the technical functions necessary to enhance the effectiveness and quality of patient care. Receive assignment and assist in care of patient as directed. Check patient's vital signs: Identify needs & pain assessment with documentation and close collaboration with a team RN. Maintain Control Logs and restocking of refrigerators & Blanket Warmers. Restock patient rooms with clinical supplies. Maintain log and deliver patient belongings to appropriate unit when admitted. Assist RN with monitoring chart. Audits charts to ensure proper forms are on chart to prevent disruption in services and/or treatment. Cross train as secretary to be able to: Order specimens and/or test Disposition, Patients Keep Daily Log of Patient Activity ,Charge patients for supplies not in omnicell. Prepare and breakdown charts. Place test results on charts. Fax abnormal test results to doctor's offices & notify staff for receipt verification. Perform the following competency based patient care activities: o After competency met: 12-lead EKG, Doppler Pulses, Converting Foley Catheters to Leg Bags with Instruction to Patients, Ambulating Fresh Post-Op Patient, Transporting patients via wheelchairs or stretchers for dismissal and/or to other departments. TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT USE: Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role. Understands equipment operation. Maintains equipment in working order. Troubleshoots equipment problems. Uses technology to increase productivity. Adapts to new technology DOCUMENTATION: Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion. Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc. Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers / users. Uses correct terminology. Conforms to required style and format. Additional Duties Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
