Description:

Are you passionate about renewable energy and looking to make a significant impact in the industry? Join Fortum Wind & Solar as an O&M Development Manager and be at the forefront of driving the transition towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy system.
This position is based in our office in Espoo or Solna.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the O&M Development Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing the operations and maintenance (O&M) strategy for Fortum’s future renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid projects. You will ensure operational excellence, cost-efficiency, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
This position reports to the Head of Asset Management and works closely with cross-functional teams, including project development, engineering, procurement, and external stakeholders.
In the role as O&M Development Manager, the following will be part of your key responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Development:

  • Develop and implement long-term O&M strategies for wind, solar, BESS, and hybrid assets to align with Fortum’s growth and sustainability goals.
  • Incorporate best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative O&M models to optimize performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Define KPIs for O&M activities, focusing on uptime, cost efficiency, and asset lifetime.
  • Analyze O&M services to identify opportunities for in-house capabilities versus outsourcing.

Operational Excellence:

  • Manage O&M frameworks for new projects, ensuring seamless transitions from construction to operations.
  • Oversee asset management plans, maintenance schedules, and performance monitoring systems.
  • Establish scalable spare parts management strategies and robust supply chain relationships.
  • Drive the adoption of digital solutions like predictive maintenance, drone inspections, and advanced analytics for real-time monitoring.

Project Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Serve as the primary O&M interface during project engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to establish design standards that minimize O&M complexity and costs.
  • Lead the handover process from construction teams to O&M teams, ensuring all documentation, warranties, and training are complete.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify and mitigate O&M risks, including equipment failures, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory compliance challenges.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards across all operational and future sites.

Team Building and Leadership:

  • Coordinate with O&M professionals, including engineers, technicians, and analysts, to support Fortum’s growing renewable portfolio.
  • Develop training programs to enhance team capabilities in advanced O&M practices and emerging technologies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with external contractors, OEMs, and service providers to negotiate O&M contracts and ensure SLA adherence.
  • Work with the commercialization and strategy team to budget and forecast O&M expenses and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
  • Engage with industry forums and consortia to represent Fortum and stay updated on O&M trends and innovations.

To be successful in the role of O&M Development Manager, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in O&M, asset management, strategy, or renewable energy (e.g., IAM) are an advantage.
  • Several years of experience in O&M, consultancy, asset management, strategy, or other relevant roles.
  • Track record of developing and implementing O&M strategies for large-scale renewable projects is highly beneficial.
  • Deep understanding of O&M best practices.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; additional language skills, especially Finnish or Swedish, are highly value
