JOB DESCRIPTION

We are hiring a Shift Operations Technician for our Earls Gate Energy Centre, Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant in Grangemouth, Scotland.
The Shift Operations Technician is responsible for specific activities in the safe and environmentally sound operation of the process systems and equipment and assisting the Shift Team Leader in the daily operation and regular inspections of the plant.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of job duties and may be subject to change based on the needs of the business.

Main responsibilities:

  • Plant & control system first line maintenance, fault diagnosis, reporting and documentation completion in line with safety, business and statutory requirements. Carry out routine plant duties ensuring commercial performance, availability and reliability are maintained to a high level.
  • Responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised.
  • Effectively react to planned and unplanned (i.e. emergency) repairs, blockages and changes in the plant central systems. Promptly react to system alarms/protocols to secure areas of the plant if/as required.
  • Monitoring all areas of the plant from the control room. This includes, operating the overhead crane for the systematic removal of waste, and accessing all areas of the plant (from height to ground levels) to check instruments, gauges, and to take readings and take actions as required.
  • Fulfil the role of Plant Attendant if/when required. This includes, (and is not limited to) the loading and unloading of vehicles, use of the 3.5 ton front loading shovel, Telehandler & Fork Lift Truck (FLT) as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • NVQ preferred
  • HSE accredited training qualifications desirable
  • Experience in plant & control system first line maintenance, fault diagnosis, reporting and documentation
  • Good experience within the Power Industry process or similar type of industry in a shift operations role
  • Familiar with HSE standards, procedures and requirements and control plant operations in a safe and efficient manner
