Job Description Position Purpose: Perform a variety of skilled/unskilled work in the operation, maintenance, and grounds keeping of the Lake Gaston Water Supply Project. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Safely operate lawn mowers (riding zero turn), bush hogging (Tractor Operator), weed eater, and other small hand/power tools. Thorough knowledge of health and safety standards and precautions pertaining to utilities operations and maintenance procedures. Strong desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships, teams, and work groups with other employees, contractors and the general public. Strong ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with others. Monitors all charts, gauges, SCADA and other operating equipment. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however limited exposure to higher noise level (within OSHA standards) may occur. Qualifications Education/Experience/Background: High School Diploma/GED is required. Approximately 1½ years industry experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English. Good communication skills, written and oral. Required Certification/Licenses/Training: Valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs or ladders; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.
