OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN AND SAFETY COORDINATOR

Location – Cheshire/Grimsby
Contract Type – Permanent
Working Hours – Full time

We are looking for an Operations Technician who can contribute towards delivering the day to day operational requirements for our Cheshire and Grimsby assets.
You will have experience in undertaking plant operational routines, fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery. You’ll collaborate with Engineering teams, supporting plant shutdowns and recommissioning as required.
You can be based at either Cheshire or Grimsby. Occasional travel to both sites is essential and sometimes overnight stays may be required.
As part of this role, we’ll expect you to become the Authorised Safety Co-ordinator in accordance with RWE Generation Safety Rules. This post will allow you to work flexibly, in a site team environment and experience a wide range of operations and maintenance tasks to allow you to develop your career with us.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Have a recognised engineering or operations background or craft skill in an electrical, mechanical or C & I discipline. HNC or ONC or equivalent.
  • Competent in all aspects of power plant operation and or maintenance
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and be competent in the use of applicable business IT systems such as
  • Microsoft Office and have previous experience of a Maintenance Management System Not exceed
  • Be a self-motivated, flexible individual able to work with the minimum of supervision, whilst being capable of providing support to the Team.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives.
  • Possess excellent knowledge on power generation safety management systems including system Safety Rules.Flexible and agile in their approach to supporting the asset and Embedded Assets fleet through flexible working hours and application of skills. Ability and flexibility to retrain and to take on new skill sets

Responsibilities
  • Health, Safety and Environment compliance – Ensure safe operational practices are implemented, and support targets and initiatives relating to health, safety, wellbeing and environment, including Mission Zero and Business KPIs.
  • Operate plant in accordance with recognised station standards – Achieve accredited Operator Status and actively seek to gain and apply new skills.
  • Provide Safety from System derived hazards - Carrying out the duties of the Safety Controller under RWE Generation UK Safety Rules as nominated and authorised.
  • Maintenance Activities - Develop maintenance skills to undertake maintenance during your time at work. This will take the form of a variety of routine tasks and disciplines and more complex undertakings as your skills develop.
  • Emergency Response - Take part in incident response training and site-based exercises which test procedures and competence.
  • Outage Support - Work in multi-disciplinary teams to plan and delivery safe and efficient outages. Commission and return the plant to service in a structured and safe way.
