Title: Observability Engineer
Base location: Belfast / Remote UK

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience, some of which should have focus on Observability.
  • Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools such as Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, OpenTelemetry, ELK Stack, or similar.
  • Experience with high volume data storage (Structured and unstructured).
  • A strong technical background, with current capabilities and willingness to get hands on when needed.
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux and scripting languages (Bash, Python, Golang).
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud and on-premise systems administration principles.
  • Significant Understanding of DevOps principles.
  • A strong team player who is accountable towards business urgency.
  • Ability to stay organized in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Self-starter.
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication, and documentation skills with a proven ability to work cross-functionally.


    • BS/MS in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.

    Responsibilities

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    Imperva’s Infrastructure and Cloud team is staffed with senior leadership from Netflix, Cloudflare, Amazon, Fastly and other major corporations. Our mission is to rebuild Imperva’s pops and core infrastructure with new modern technologies, embracing Infrastructure as code at all levels with automation as a core requirement for all projects.
    We are looking for an Observability Engineer to work within our SRE teams to design, build and iterate on our O11Y platform. This engineer will have to work both hands on and strategically with our architects, global service delivery and product teams to plan an observability road map and then execute on those plans.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assess & Enhance Observability: Review the current observability platform, identify areas for improvement, and guide the team in enhancing monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting capabilities.
    • Design & Implement Solutions: Develop and optimize observability solutions that provide deep insights into system and service health.
    • Dashboard Development: Assist teams in creating clear, informative, and actionable dashboards to improve system visibility.
    • Automation & Alerting: Automate monitoring and alerting processes, including enrichment strategies and ML-driven anomaly detection where applicable.
    • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with ICO and product development teams to ensure seamless visibility into system and service performance.
    • Strategic Observability: Partner with key stakeholders to develop a unified observability strategy aligned with business and operational goals.
