Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Manager of Employee Health, Safety & Wellness is currently seeking an Occupational Health & Disability Management Specialist. The position is responsible for all WSIB Case Management and incident reporting services, and will support relevant training to staff, students and management; position will provide support services to Employee Health, Safety and Wellness department staff and advisory services to members of the Management team; position will contribute to the accomplishment of Employee Health, Safety & Wellness services and objectives, and provide a
Service-oriented, high-performance culture; position will provide support in disability management processes, incident file management and psychological health & safety functions.
Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for full cycle WSIB claim management processes. This will include coordination of benefit application, case management, and return to work planning to end of claim.
- Responsible for management of the staff incident reporting system. This includes auditing of incident reports for accuracy, ensuring follow-up with staff and managers regarding risk mitigations and outcomes, and closing incident files. Position will also manage system modifications, develop incident analytics and statistical reporting processes, and provide training for staff and managers.
- Support the onboarding of new staff, management and students by providing orientation to disability management and incident reporting processes at hew hire orientation.
- Work as a member of the Disability Management Team to support disability management processes
- Work as a member of the Health & Safety Team to provide assistance in health & safety file management, training, and regular business review meetings/case conferencing with departmental leaders.
- Support the Employee Health and Wellness CoorWC2dinator in the development and delivery of Psychological Health & Safety programming to employees.
- Provide basic workplace ergonomic services to employees.
- Work in collaboration with Payroll and Staffing to coordinate appropriate pay coding related to absences and return to work programming.
- Provide on-going assistance to employees and Management
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Occupational Health, Kinesiology or relevant field is required
- Post-secondary specialized training/ education in the Human Resources Management of disability management function is required.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the Human Resources or Occupational Health & Safety functions
- Experience working with partners in the areas of occupational health & safety, disability management or employee wellness preferably in a unionized environment Required
- Knowledge of workplace legislation such as Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Regulations, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and relevant Collective Agreements.
- Familiarity with the National Standard for Psychological Health & Safety
- Knowledge of Incident reporting processes, familiarity with health and safety standards and Joint Health & Safety Committee processes.
- Knowledge of disability management and return to work principles, practices and legislation
- Strong presentation, communication and business writing skills.
- Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively as a team member, facilitate trust and respect within the work area and build and maintain effective working.
