POSITION PURPOSE: To manage and oversee all safety, wellness, and health-related programs and personnel in the Distributing Safety and Safety Wellness departments. This includes enforcing OSHA regulations, OSHA log recordkeeping and reporting. This position requires a high level of confidentiality. Planning, establishing, implementing, overseeing, and maintaining a variety of health, safety, and environmental programs to assist in establishing a safe environment and reducing risk for employees. Ensure that Meyer is striving to maintain compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. Diligent and analytical to focus on injury prevention and have an eye for detail and a sensitivity to potential dangers. Typical Schedule: In office position, Monday through Friday: 7:00am - 5:00pm Education/Certification(s): High school diploma or GED required. Associate Degree in Business or related field preferred. 4 years of experience in safety and workers’ compensation, a degree in safety management, or other management position preferred. Active first aid and CPR certification and completion Certificate for OSHA 30hr class is preferred. Valid IN Driver's License Job duties include but are not limited to: Management of the Ergonomics Program Conduct proactive audits utilizing various assessments and resources Provide Ergonomic training/classes Understand and enforce OSHA-related topics (also provide training in these areas) Track and order safety supplies Overseeing accident investigations and leading serious investigations Overseeing Risk Assessments program to identify and coordinate appropriate personal protective equipment in the workplace Oversight of annual site safety audits. Citing hazardous conditions, documenting, and follow up for corrective recommendations Identify company training needs, provide corrective actions and process to improve safety and help to develop and coordinate safety programs Manage the training and programs for BBP, First Aid, AED Programs, along with First Responders program Manage and ensure compliance and maintenance of all regulatory programs Assist with IH testing and recording Assist with Worker's Compensation responsibilities including first reports, scheduling doctors’ appointments, working with clinics, and following up with the insurance companies Assist with Random and Post-Accident Drug Screens Ensure workers’ compensation registrations are complete and kept up to date for all locations Coordinating and completing tasks for managed positions to cover interim absences and transitions Traveling schedule will be based on travel needs All other duties as assigned Benefits: Medical Vision Dental Disability Life Insurance 401K with Company Match Paid Vacation Paid Holidays Personal Days Available 20% Employee Discount Casual Dress Code Mother’s Room Available (Jasper, IN) Health Savings Account Tuition Reimbursement Options Available Requirements: Positive and confident attitude Critical thinking Knowledge, comprehension, and application of OSHA regulations (30-hour OSHA card) Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities Knowledge and application of federal and state workers’ compensation laws and experience with legal documents Must have general knowledge of federal, state and local safety laws and regulations. Knowledge of office equipment including copiers, fax machines, computers, etc. Planning/organizing and follow-up skills —the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans, and follows up to ensure compliance Communication - Must have excellent oral and written communication skills up and down the organizational structure. Effective oral and written communication, effectively relating to all levels Excellent listening skills Computer skills (Word/Excel/ PowerPoint) Problem-solving Ability to identify and deliver creative recommendations/solutions Practice a high level of confidentiality Emotional intelligence First Aid, CPR, and AED training (gain certification to be a trainer if needed) Drug Screening training Ability to work under general supervision and make independent decisions.
