The HSE team at Rio Tinto NZAS is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Registered Nurse, ideally with Occupational Health experience, to join their highly skilled team to perform pre-employment medical assessments, periodic medical surveillance for employees and contractors, and provide acute injury treatment as required.
This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and positive individual to assist in driving a strong health and wellbeing programme.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Health Services, you will be:

  • Conducting pre-employment and periodic medical testing, and health surveillance, and taking appropriate actions for identified health concerns.
  • Assisting with the management of work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Coordinating and delivering health and wellbeing promotion activities.
  • Conducting AOD testing.
  • Communicating with employees and leaders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Providing advice and support to improve health and safety performance and prevent injury and illness across the operation through assessment of fitness for work.
  • Working as part of a collaborative team of health and hygiene professionals across site.
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site health and safety policies, systems and procedures, including working within legislative requirements.
Responsibilities

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Current NCNZ registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in Occupational Health highly desirable, including performing and interpreting audiograms and lung function tests with relevant certification.
  • Experience using patient management systems to support healthcare operations and enhance patient care delivery.
  • A self-motivated work ethic and a positive, motivated attitude.
  • A strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, skilled in a wide range of software applications and digital tools, ensuring efficient and accurate task execution.
  • Effective time management, proven ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and manage competing demands.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, committed to ongoing personal and professional development, with a focus on optimising processes and outcomes.
  • Highly regarded certificate of competency in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) testing and authorised vaccinator
