Description

We are recruiting for an Occupational Health Technician to join our Occupational Health Team as maternity cover for up to 13 months starting in December 2025. The OH Department is a team of 7 employees supported by a part-time Company OH Physician and various specialist 3rd party suppliers (e.g. for counselling and physio services).
You will help support the OH requirements for approximately 2,700 employees who work in a diverse range of roles from plant driving to labouring to office functions. The OH team perform approximately 1,300 health assessments per year for employees in safety-critical roles as well as applicants for vacancies.
Whilst sometimes working at other HPUK sites (mainly Harwich), you will normally operate from our OH facility at Felixstowe. All work is carried out on site. Working hours are normally Monday - Friday, 8am - 4.30pm.

The key requirements of the role are as follows:

  • Undertake health assessments e.g. blood pressure, vision, hearing, drug/alcohol, or lung function tests as well as BMI measurements and basic life support, while adhering to best practice guidelines;
  • Be accountable for delivery, recording and reporting health surveillance and escalating any concerns to the on-site specialist medical clinician;
  • Work unsupervised at times both in the department and at other premises;
  • Maintain comprehensive OH records on the Company’s IT systems, ensuring strict confidentiality at all times;
  • Provide administrative support within the OH team when required.

We are seeking someone with Occupational health experience. If you are someone with previous experience working as an Occupational Health Technician, this may be the job for you. You will need to be highly motivated, team-oriented and flexible, capable of responding quickly to changing requirements with excellent communication skills. You must be experienced with Microsoft packages particularly Microsoft Excel and Word and hold a minimum of four GCSEs (grade C and above) or equivalent including English Language and Maths.
