Using your technical skills, you’ll conduct onsite assessments and monitoring for a range of public and private clients. You’ll be supported by experienced technicians, project managers, and senior practitioners, with opportunities to quickly grow your autonomy. WSP invests in your development through mentoring, safety and technical training, job shadowing, and hands‑on learning.  This role is 90% fieldwork / 10% office, with travel across Alberta, Western, and Northern Canada. Paid overtime is available. You’ll conduct field surveys, prepare reports, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to high‑impact client deliverables. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Impact * Apply technical knowledge of methods, regulations, equipment, and procedures. * Make routine and non‑routine decisions with guidance from your Project Manager. * Support projects by preparing and calibrating sampling equipment and identifying site issues with recommended corrective actions. * Conduct occupational hygiene assessments, including asbestos, mold, lead, and PCB evaluations. * Collect samples, interpret data, and prepare clear, accurate reports. * Analyze results against legislation and industry guidelines. * Supervise asbestos abatement activities. * Complete air quality assessments (IAQ, welding fume, noise, etc.). * Liaise with clients to ensure health, safety, and hygiene needs are met. * Participate in WSP’s Health, Safety, and Quality program and ongoing technical training. * Accommodate client schedules, including potential evening, overnight, and weekend work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Skills That Set You Apart * Occupational Hygiene Technician certificate, chemical/environmental diploma, technical/trade education, or B.Sc. * Eligibility for professional membership is an asset. * Experience in occupational hygiene or hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, silica, etc.) is an asset. * Experience with abatement contractors is beneficial but not required. * Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication; proficiency with MS Office. * Valid Class 5 driver’s license, unrestricted, with reliable insured vehicle. * Ability to wear required PPE (respiratory protection, hard hat, hi‑vis, FR coveralls, boots, glasses). * Adaptable, eager to expand your skills, and comfortable managing a busy workload. * Team‑oriented, enthusiastic, and ready to take on responsibility. * Motivated to grow within a leading global environmental consulting firm. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Compensation BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $29.00 – $38.90 MB & ON: $26.40 – $36.90 Atlantic Provinces & QC: $26.20 – $35.30 Disclosure: The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. Responsibilities
The technician will conduct onsite assessments and monitoring for public and private clients, applying technical knowledge of methods, regulations, and equipment. Key duties include conducting occupational hygiene assessments (asbestos, mold, lead, PCB), collecting and interpreting samples, preparing reports, and supervising asbestos abatement activities.
