Description Job Summary: Assists in providing rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments in a home, school or daycare setting. Essential Functions: Help clients with rehabilitative activities and exercises in their treatment plan, as prescribed by an occupational therapist Teach patients how to move from bed to wheelchair and how to utilize muscles. Monitor individual’s activities to ensure they are performed correctly Record client’s progress and conditions Alter treatments as needed if intended effect is not evident Requirements Job Qualifications: Education: Degree in occupational therapy or related field and appropriate certifications and/or licensures Licensure: Current Texas State License as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, current Texas Driver’s License. Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in acute care or rehabilitation setting, home health preferred. Skills: Therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Good interpersonal skills. Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid and current auto liability insurance. Environmental and Working Conditions Works in a patient’s home in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather. Physical and Mental Efforts: Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs
Responsibilities
Assist clients with rehabilitative activities and exercises as prescribed by an occupational therapist. Monitor client progress and adjust treatments as necessary.
