YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Recognised graduate-entry qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)
  • Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Be an established paediatric OT looking to expand your clinical knowledge and skills within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience working within acute care or a hospital environment, with confidence in facilitating discharge plans.
  • Experience working with children who require developmental support
  • Be interested in working within RCH tertiary multidisciplinary clinics (alongside engaged medical teams) to ensure children with rare conditions access the supports they need within the community
  • Have confidence in educating patients/parents/discipline staff/ multidisciplinary team and members of the wider community to minimise risk and promote successful outcomes for patient care
  • Be committed to evidence-based practice, and integration into everyday clinical care

Responsibilities

This is a Full Time ongoing position at 80 hours per fortnight.
Working at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides a unique and exciting opportunity to work alongside children and their families in a fun, bright and colourful environment.
You will be responsible for providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention services to inpatient and/or outpatient infants, children and adolescents, within the Acute Neurosciences, Musculoskeletal and Trauma stream. You will deliver specialised assessment and intervention to children following complex trauma, brain injury and neurological events with a focus on recovery from acute injury and clinical care in the post operative period. As part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will have opportunities to work alongside experts in their field and broaden your knowledge, skills and experience within paediatrics in an acute tertiary hospital setting. To ensure the inpatient occupational therapy needs are met on the weekend, this Grade 2 role will be required to work some weekend shifts.
