This role involves assessment, intervention, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to help families develop the skills and strategies needed for safe shelter living and successful transitions to stable housing.

OUR COMMITMENT

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: The INN is deeply committed to building a workplace where inclusion is valued and prioritized. We welcome and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences. If you are passionate about our mission and can contribute to our team, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every qualification listed. We value unique perspectives and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of talents and skills. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religious beliefs, gender, gender identity or expression, family status, marital status, sexual orientation, place of origin, source of income, mental and physical disability, age or veteran status.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and promote participation in valued occupations, including activities of daily living (ADLs), sensory/emotional regulation, parenting under stress, child development, and community/work/school re-engagement.
  • Adapt interventions to meet diverse cultural norms, family structures, and trauma histories.
  • Build capacity for independent living by addressing immediate safety needs and long-term skill development.
  • Recommend adaptive tools and environmental modifications (e.g., mobility aids, self-care tools, sensory supports, ergonomic solutions) to enhance safety and readiness for housing transitions.
  • Collaborate with shelter staff and external partners to address barriers to tenancy, participation, and functioning to support sustainable housing.
  • Contribute to family goal planning and consult on creating inclusive, developmentally friendly environments.
  • Support program development and provide systems-level recommendations that promote meaningful occupational participation for families.
  • Deliver one-on-one or group education on stress management, parenting, and chronic condition self-management.
  • Assist families in navigating health, housing, and community services to build sustainable support networks.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and uphold ethical, anti-oppressive, and culturally humble practice.
