Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Community Mental Health Team based in Riverview Resource Centre, Dumbarton, for a period of 12 months to cover maternity leave.
The post offers the opportunity to be involved in shaping and developing the Occupational Therapy service and experience of service users through the delivery of core Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions. Essential to this post is an experienced Occupational Therapist who is confident with their core skills, has excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative clinical style. Also required is a well-developed knowledge of care of adults with mental health problems, and of appropriate interventions.
The Community Mental Health Team provides specialist intervention, advice and response to those individuals experiencing acute and enduring mental health issues. The postholder would work closely with MDT colleagues including nursing, psychiatry, psychology and social work. The postholder will carry out specialist core Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions using the Model of Human Occupation to underpin practice. There is an expectation that standardised assessment and tools will be considered during patient intervention to demonstrate the effectiveness of Occupational Therapy intervention.
