This post is for temporary (12 month) maternity leave cover in Older Peoples Mental Health - community and inpatient services. The position provides Occupational Therapy input for the Older Peoples Community Mental Health services in Cairnmhor Resource Centre in Dumbarton, Goldenhill Resource Centre in Clydebank and Fruin, Katrin and Glenarn wards at the Vale of Leven Hospital. A driving licence is desirable for this post.
The shift pattern for this position is Monday – Thursday 9 – 5pm, Friday 9 – 4.30pm.
The post holder will provide occupational therapy assessment, treatment and a range of therapeutic occupation focussed interventions and will work alongside a team of nursing, medical, psychology, link worker and support worker staff as well as the wider occupational therapy team. The post offers a unique blend of working in both the community mental health teams and the inpatient wards in West Dunbartonshire. The post holder will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and adapt accordingly.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential qualities. The post holder will deliver a core occupational therapy role whilst working with other disciplines, relatives, carers and partner organisations. The successful candidate may be expected to supervise occupational therapy support staff.
The successful candidate will be part of a well-established occupational therapy service which focuses on evidence- based practice and effective multidisciplinary working. Professional supervision is embedded within the service and there are a range of opportunities for continuing professional development. The post holder will work closely with and be supported by Occupational Therapy staff working in the West Dunbartonshire Older Peoples Community Mental Health Service.
