Description Job Summary: Facilitates the development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled persons in a home, school or daycare setting. Essential Functions: Plans occupational therapy program activities such as manual arts and crafts. Provides practice in functional daily living skills. Coordinates participation in sensory motor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients Develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities. Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual. Selects constructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, assist in restoration of functions, and aid in adjustment to disability. Evaluates patient’s progress. Designs and constructs special equipment for individual and suggests alterations of individual's work-living environment. Requirements Job Qualifications: Educations: Bachelor’s degree and appropriate certifications and/or licensures. Licensure: Current Texas State License in Occupational Therapy, current Texas Driver’s License. Experience: Two years experience in acute care or rehabilitation setting, home health preferred. Skills: Therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Good interpersonal skills. Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid and current auto liability insurance. Environmental and Working Conditions Works in a patient’s home in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather. Physical and Mental Efforts: Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs
