JOB OVERVIEW

We provide occupational therapy services in home, school, and clinic settings to meet the diverse needs of children, teens and their families. Our team of occupational therapists are dedicated to working with clients to develop the skills, strategies and confidence to do what they need and want to do in their own environments. We are client and family centred, helping clients achieve their goals and potential.
Position: We are seeking a keen and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive assessments, treatment, and consultation services to children, adolescents, and their families with various needs in home, school and clinic settings. We are seeking 3-4 days of availability per week, with flexible hours and possibility of additional days. Availability during school hours is necessary.
Clients are seen in independent schools during the day, as well as in homes with in the Toronto area. After school hours are based on client needs/referrals, with flexible scheduling. Clinic hours at a multidisciplinary clinic in Toronto are also available. The start date is immediate with ongoing mentorship. This is a permanent, independent contractor position, whereby the therapist will be compensated per client, with pay based on years of experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent.
  • Current registration and member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
  • Previous experience in pediatrics required (school aged). Experience working with children with ASD, LD, ADHD, and developmental delays is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Access to a car is an asset as travel is required.

Responsibilities
  • Complete assessments, consultations, and develop/implement treatment plans in school and home settings to support.
  • Support children to address written legibility, written expression, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, feeding, self-regulation, executive functioning, and sensory processing needs.
  • Complete assessment, progress and discharge reports, maintain ongoing communication with parents and teachers, and complete documentation in accordance with professional standards.
  • Collaborate closely with families, teachers and other professionals to promote carry-over of strategies and recommends within school and home settings.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, problem-solving skills, self-directed, flexible, and comfortable working independently with support and mentoring provided.
  • Create your own schedule, spending 0.5-1 full day at each school, and home visits as needed.
