Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0.01 Work Shift: Days (United States of America) PRN SHIFTS: As needed hours on weekdays and weekend, during day (Acute and Outpatient) JOB DESCRIPTION I. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The incumbent shall be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in a team environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to performance improvement activities as applicable, problem solving, and productivity. II. Employment Qualifications The incumbent shall, at minimum be a graduate of a Master’s degree program or a qualified four year Bachelor’s degree program approved by ACOTE in collaboration with the AOTA (or foreign equivalent), and hold an applicable and current state license or certification to practice or meet all qualifications to be eligible for traineeship. Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable. Experience working in the acute care setting is desirable however is not required. Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation. III. Essential Job Functions Clinical Area Conduct initial assessments. Develop individualized treatment plans. Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions. Evaluate patient response to treatment. Document the course of patient care in the electronic medical record including progress made and continuing need for treatment. Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that support continued functional independence and document same in the electronic medical record. Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team. IV. Other Job Functions Performance Improvement Area Participate in department performance improvement activities. Collect performance improvement data. Participate in survey preparation activities. Participate in department safety activities. Contribute to the delivery of cost-effective care. Professional/Leadership Area Participate in continuing education or professional development activities to include mentoring students and volunteers. Communicate and demonstrate a professional image and attitude to patients, families, coworkers and others. Adhere to policies and practices of applicable professional organizations and Bon Secours Virginia Health System. Contribute to marketing activities as appropriate. Maintain licenses, certifications and memberships in applicable professional organizations as required. Team Area Participate in team business meetings. Function as a resource for and provide team members with education on occupational therapy knowledge and skill areas. Contribute to development of improved efficiency and productivity of the department’s clinical and administrative functions. Participates as a team member by performing additional assignments not directly related to the job description when workload requires and as requested by supervisor. Collaborative participation with the interdisciplinary team. VII.
