The occupational therapist will conduct evaluations and provide direct services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other complex needs in a public day school setting.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited graduate program
  • Valid Occupational Therapist License through the Board of Allied Health Professions, Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred

Responsibilities
  • Conducts thorough assessments of fine motor, visual motor, and sensory processing skills utilizing standardized evaluations and informal assessments to establish eligibility for services and inform goals and service delivery
  • Utilizes data to develop attainable, strengths-based SMART goals for improving functional classroom and daily living skills
  • Provides direct services utilizing research-based treatment methods to improve students fine motor, visual motor, and daily living skills as outlined in the students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Records data and reports progress at least as often as report cards are provided
  • Attends and participates in IEP meetings
  • Collaborates with other related service providers to conduct co-treatment sessions when deemed appropriate
  • Consults with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to implement fine motor, daily living, and sensory strategies throughout the school day
  • Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure
