The Occupational Therapist position reports to the Location Lead. Expectations: Perform patient care and related activities in accordance with best practice/evidence-based practice guidelines, while following an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to clinical guidelines Completes patient evaluations and reassessments in accordance with clinical, insurance and practice guidelines Communicates effectively with patient/family/therapists/physicians and other health care professionals to promote quality patient care Performs patient care and related activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities, demonstrating basic clinical competencies Provides instruction/education to patients and families/caregivers with accurate and thorough information consistently to patients and families concerning their participation in the continuity of care Assesses patient and family needs regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate information and the most desirable method of teaching Have a working knowledge about Sensory Integration, Visual Training, Sensory Feeding Therapy, Handwriting, Fine Motor, and Reflexes Documents patient information in Electronic Medical Record according to office policies and clinic guidelines in timely manner Maintains a current awareness and participates in office quality activities Participates in staff development and attends health, safety and training in-services and other obligatory activities COTA supervision available, if interested Performs other essential functions as needed Requirements: Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy preferred Current Texas license to practice as an Occupational Therapist Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with clinical and administrative colleagues, patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality Two years pediatric clinical experience preferred, although a strong new grad will be considered.
