Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the TIDES (Telehealth & Innovation Deployment, Education & Sustainment) team at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC. Apply today to join our team!

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy. Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • Three (3) year’s recent related experience in a rehabilitation setting working with clients with cognitive/perceptual deficits and with complex clients with multiple co-morbidities or chronic disease.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License is required. Use of personal vehicle may be required for travel between sites for which mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with the current collective agreement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Broad knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to neurology, orthopedics and/or chronic disease management.
  • Broad Knowledge in cultural competency.
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures.
  • Broad knowledge of the CHCPBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program development and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, direct, and monitor complex patient care via Telehealth.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and clients both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team, working collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.
  • Demonstrated skill in Occupational Therapy techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system and to use Telehealth to provide for ongoing rehabilitation services.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
    As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
