Description

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHs Foundation Trust is looking for an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to join Meadowbank rehabilitation unit located on the Berrywood Hospital site. Meadowbank is a 12 bedded in-patient unit for males of adult working age with severe and complex mental health conditions who are or would otherwise be high users of in-patient and community services.
The main focus of the unit is to deliver effective rehabilitation with an emphasis on occupation and recovery focussed interventions. The environment aims to replicate the demands of every-day living, which includes being able to shop and self- cater, explore and participate in education, volunteering or employment opportunities and re-engage in hobbies or activities of interest . You will be committed to working in co-production with service users to ensure the best possible outcomes can be achieved safely. You will exhibit confidence in supporting individuals to participate in their programmes of rehabilitation
It is an integral part of the Community Mental Health Recovery Pathway and is a county wide service .

The successful candidate will take a specialist role with a focus on assisting the Occupational Therapist in providing occupational therapy assessments and interventions. Key duties will include:

  • Assess baseline functional and independent living skills and identify treatment interventions to improve/address performance in those areas.
  • Plan, implement, and modify a range of practical activity sessions that instruct and guide patients to achieve goals including daily living skills, coping skills, improving physical health / wellbeing, social skills, confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Develop links with local community-based and 3rd sector services to identify opportunities for ongoing practical activities post discharge.
  • Monitor patient progress during sessions and adjust interventions accordingly to elicit best outcomes.
  • Complete daily written records detailing observations and patient progress onto the electronic records system
  • Contribute towards service development activities as required.
