Expeditors Ho Chi Minh City is recruiting Ocean Manager as below: Job Description Department: Ocean Position Reports To: District Manager/ Branch Manager Job Purpose: Assist District Manager/ Branch Manager in leading the Ocean department (both Ocean Export and Ocean Import) to excuse business activities, achieve strategic growth and profitability targets. Take ownership of daily operations to maintain operational excellence and compliance. Responsibilities: Operational Leadership Assist Manager in setting measurement standards to monitor and improve service and data quality. Lead the team to meet company performance standards. Oversee Ocean department operations (export and import) to ensure productivity and profitability goals are achieved. Map and optimize department process flows for efficiency, cost control, and improved customer cycle times. Carrier & Vendor Management Liaise with shipping lines to develop carrier and pricing strategies. Negotiate space and equipment with carriers; monitor and improve yield performance. Execute Regional and Corporate carrier strategies. Evaluate vendors regularly and implement corrective actions where needed. Work toward being vendors’ lowest-cost customer through electronic booking and creative local solutions. Performance Monitoring Review and monitor ocean performance. Track and improve key productivities as required.. Utilize system reports as required Financial Management Prepare annual branch budget and review with direct manager Monitor department P&L, freight yields, and productivity results. Ensure compliance with credit procedures and manage accounts payable. Resolve intercompany accounting discrepancies. Review daily branch revenue reports. Sales & Market Development Lead ocean sales efforts; dedicate at least 25% of time to sales calls. Understand local market pricing and maintain relationships with top ocean customers. Oversee bid/quotation processes and support branch sales team through training and joint calls. Participate in weekly branch sales meetings. Team Development Support goal setting and monitor staff development. Conduct appraisals, salary reviews, and succession planning. Develop team leaders and ensure career growth opportunities. Organize huddle meetings for market intelligence and workload delegation. Compliance & Continuous Improvement Foster a climate of compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Suggest and implement system/process improvements. Stay informed through trade journals and industry events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications or higher. Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, preferably in shipping lines or freight forwarding industry. Minimum 5 years’ experience in managerial level. Strong market and product knowledge. Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend. Effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results. Proven negotiation skills. Good computer skills (Excel, Word).
