JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Mathematics Teacher to join our educational team. The role of the Math Teacher is to ensure the day-to-day exceptional education of students by preparing and facilitating subject specific lesson plans. Math Teachers implement the established BASIS Curriculum while tailoring specific topics to integrate their knowledge and passion for the subject.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for educating students in various mathematical concepts, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring special education services.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Completion of Bachelor of Education
  • Security and Safety: Criminal Record Check – Level 3 (Vulnerable Sector)
  • Credentials: Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT)
  • Portfolio: Course Outline and Sample Lesson Plan
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years
  • Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
  • Work Setting: Private School
  • Teaching Audience: high school students
  • Teaching Format: Class Setting/ remotely

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Prepare subject material for presentation to students according to an approved curriculum
  • Teach students using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, shop and field studies
  • Assign and correct homework
  • Prepare, administer and correct tests
  • Evaluate progress, determine individual needs of students and discuss results with parents and school officials
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
  • Educate students on mathematical concepts ranging from basic arithmetic to advanced topics.
  • Provide tutoring and additional support to students who may need extra help understanding course material.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for mathematics.
  • Assess student progress through regular evaluations, assignments, and tests, providing constructive feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance and progress.
