JOB TITLE: MACHINIST – BENCH DEPARTMENT LEAD
Location: Wixom, MI
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (OT when needed)
Pay: $28–$32 per hour (based on experience)

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Machinist to lead our Bench Department. This role involves managing workflow through the bench/toolroom area, including job processing, fixture and gage assembly, inspection, and finishing of precision components. The ideal candidate will bring strong machining expertise along with leadership skills to oversee and coordinate department operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
· 5+ years of machining experience, with expertise in bench department operations.
· Strong knowledge of shop math, blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection methods.
· Hands-on experience with fixture and gage assembly/inspection.
· Ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
· Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
· Leadership or mentoring experience preferred.

· Perform and oversee bench department work, including assembly, fitting, inspection, and finishing of fixtures and gages.
· Manage workflow and scheduling of jobs through the bench/toolroom area.
· Inspect and verify quality of parts and assemblies, ensuring all requirements are in place before jobs start.
· Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and quality personnel to ensure parts meet customer specifications.
· Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
· Operate manual machines (surface grinders, ID/OD grinders) CNC experience is a plus.
· Provide guidance, training, and support to other team members as needed.
