SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Superintendent of School Effectiveness, the consultant will:
- Work closely with the Superintendent, Equity Team, Principals, Teachers and Administration staff to implement Board and Ministry of Education initiatives
- Support and promote Gospel values and Catholic Graduate Expectations through Board priorities and initiatives
- Support the implementation of Ministry and Board professional learning initiatives for educational and non-educational staff across the system, specific to Equity, professional growth, and wellness
- Support schools through implementation and coordination of appropriate interdepartmental supports and development and implementation of professional development on various equity initiatives throughout the system
- Liaise with educational partners for creation, delivery and support of the board’s Equity Diversity and Inclusion Framework, including providing direct support in schools and supporting the implementation of professional learning opportunities for all board staff
- Co-Leading the Faith and Equity Committee with other CDSBEO members
- Providing professional learning opportunities and job embedded professional learning for staff across the System
- Assisting in the completion of Ministry of Education and Provincial reports
- Assisting schools with their equity initiatives and support student achievement planning
- Develop and facilitate professional learning that integrates pedagogical practices, CRRP, leveraging digital tools, rich tasks to engage students in deep learning and promote the Gospel values.
- Support the CDSBEO School Climate surveys
- Monitor data collection and the capturing of evidence of learning in a collaborative, dynamic, and creative team environment.
- Planning and managing related budgets to support specific initiatives
- Travel to various CDSBEO schools to support various student programs;
- Liaise with various CDSBEO Departments, (Student Success, Special Education, Curriculum, Religious and Family Life Education and Equity and Inclusion, and Continuing Education Departments) on various initiatives;
- Provide job-embedded professional development support for teachers in the areas of literacy, numeracy, assessment and evaluation, learning strategies and other subject-specific topics;
- Assist with the delivery of professional development programs within the Board mandate;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Ontario College of Teachers Certificate in accordance with Ontario regulations
- At least 5 years teaching experience
- Experience in the creation and delivery of leadership, communication, and wellness workshops for adult learners
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and willingness to collaborate with other professionals
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of learning technologies including Google applications.
- Knowledge of the planning for learning process, differentiated instruction and current practices in assessment and evaluation
- The ability to work collaboratively in teams with other professionals and to develop partnerships and influence change
- Experience facilitating and presenting to groups of teachers
Preference will be given to those candidates who:
- Have an excellent working knowledge of our board’s Equity Diversity and Inclusion policies and procedures
- Have had training, coaching and mentoring experience
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the Ministry’s Equity Action Plan
- Can demonstrate an excellent understanding and implementation of CRRP
- Can demonstrate a knowledge of effective models of professional learning, coaching and leadership development skills
- Have an ability to create and foster community relationships, both educational and non-educational
- Have lived experience that would contribute to the success of this role
- Experience in supporting student achievement, planning, and implementation strategies
- Participation in professional learning teams and commitment to building Catholic professional learning communities
- Religious Education Part 1 is recommended
- Experience teaching in both elementary and secondary school would be considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, instructional leadership, and organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of current Ministry initiatives on Indigenous Education
- Extensive knowledge of instructional assessment, evaluation and reporting practices in alignment with the Institute for Catholic Education and the Ontario Ministry of Education, and Board directives
- Demonstrated effective leadership and experience in working with board and school teams and expertise in the planning and delivery of teacher professional development.
