Description:
SUMMARY
The Chief Deputy Office Administrator is appointed by the elected Prosecuting Attorney. The Administrator has administrative responsibility for all non-prosecutorial functions of the office, and plans, implements and manages the daily operations of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Administrator serves as the elected Prosecuting Attorney’s executive assistant.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Arts Degree, preferably in public or business administration.
- At least five (5) years’ experience as an office administrator, paralegal, or legal secretary. Qualified experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
- At least five (5) years’ experience supervising staff.
- At least three (3) years’ experience performing general accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
- Knowledge of Washington State Public Records Act.
- A valid Washington State driver license and acceptable driving record.
- Must be bondable.

- Comprehensive knowledge of legal processes, including criminal justice system.
- Ability to plan, organize and supervise personnel engaged in working, requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to handle stress and high pressure situations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning, directing, implementing and managing daily prosecuting attorney non-exempt personnel functions.
- Oversees and coordinates the internal office technology requirements.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and disciplining of non-exempt employees.
- Plans, assigns and reviews the work of non-exempt staff, conducts employee performance evaluations, and recommends salary increases.
- Responsible for managing non-exempt staff case flow; maintaining and managing office records and physical plant and equipment needs of the office. Plans and implements procedural and administrative functions for the office.
- Manages grants and/or contracts for the office, including financial reporting requirements.
- Prepares and manages the annual budget.
- Responsible for keeping informed of changes in Public Records Act laws; oversees office’s public records liaison to the County Public Records Department in response to public records requests.
- Manages annual attorney licensing and continuing education requirements.
- Responsible for keeping informed of and manage changes due to legislation that may affect the office.
- Manages fiscal policies and procedures including the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, payroll, purchasing, and accounts payable.
- Responsible for the accounting and proper disbursal of all funds received.
- Liaison with outside departments and the public on policy and procedural matters involving the office.
- Assist other personnel as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as directed by the Prosecuting Attorney.
