SUMMARY

The Chief Deputy Office Administrator is appointed by the elected Prosecuting Attorney. The Administrator has administrative responsibility for all non-prosecutorial functions of the office, and plans, implements and manages the daily operations of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Administrator serves as the elected Prosecuting Attorney’s executive assistant.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree, preferably in public or business administration.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience as an office administrator, paralegal, or legal secretary. Qualified experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience supervising staff.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience performing general accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Knowledge of Washington State Public Records Act.
  • A valid Washington State driver license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be bondable.

  2. Ability to plan, organize and supervise personnel engaged in working, requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials and the general public.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to handle stress and high pressure situations.
Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for planning, directing, implementing and managing daily prosecuting attorney non-exempt personnel functions.
  2. Oversees and coordinates the internal office technology requirements.
  3. Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and disciplining of non-exempt employees.
  4. Plans, assigns and reviews the work of non-exempt staff, conducts employee performance evaluations, and recommends salary increases.
  5. Responsible for managing non-exempt staff case flow; maintaining and managing office records and physical plant and equipment needs of the office. Plans and implements procedural and administrative functions for the office.
  6. Manages grants and/or contracts for the office, including financial reporting requirements.
  7. Prepares and manages the annual budget.
  8. Responsible for keeping informed of changes in Public Records Act laws; oversees office’s public records liaison to the County Public Records Department in response to public records requests.
  9. Manages annual attorney licensing and continuing education requirements.
  10. Responsible for keeping informed of and manage changes due to legislation that may affect the office.
  11. Manages fiscal policies and procedures including the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, payroll, purchasing, and accounts payable.
  12. Responsible for the accounting and proper disbursal of all funds received.
  13. Liaison with outside departments and the public on policy and procedural matters involving the office.
  14. Assist other personnel as needed.
  15. Perform other duties and special projects as directed by the Prosecuting Attorney.
