Scholarships & Student Aid Office
McGill’s Scholarship and Student Aid Office (SSAO) advises McGill students on funding options, budgeting, and debt management. They disburse all provincial, federal, and US student aid funding, and help with government aid information and documentation. They offer an Entrance Bursary Program, Entrance Scholarships, an In-Course Financial Aid Program (loans and bursaries) and a Work Study Program based on financial need.
Position Summary:
An Office Assistant performs clerical and administrative duties at the Scholarships and Student Aid office to aid the team and/or management. These duties may include (but are not limited to) preparing and organizing documents and managing organizational documentation and records, freeing the team to perform mission-critical functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and updating files and records.
  • Sorting, filing and distributing paper files.
  • Scanning and Indexing office documents.
  • Using office equipment like facsimile machines, printers, photocopiers, and computers.
  • Reports to the Operations Manager

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Work-Study Eligible.
  • Enrolled in a Master of Information Studies (MLIS) program, considered an asset
  • Proficiency with basic accounting and office procedures.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with office software like Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Efficient typing.
  • Diplomacy and tact with clients.
  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 2 (Intermediate) on a scale of 0-4.
