Hiring Unit: Department of History and Classical Studies, Indian Ocean World Centre
The Indian Ocean World Centre (IOWC) at McGill University seeks one (1) casual Office Assistant C. Their primary responsibility will be to support the administrative needs of the Centre. For more information on the IOWC’s activities, see:

Position Summary:

  • Handle correspondence and communications
  • Respond to queries from IOWC members, maintain the mailing list
  • Check account balances and budget projections
  • Help manage speaker series events (every Wednesday during term).
  • Help manage podcast recordings for the Indian Ocean World podcast (approx. five podcasts per semester).
  • Help organize conferences/workshops
  • Update the IOWC notice board
  • Attend to general maintenance requests, purchases office supplies
  • Other general administrative tasks as required

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • High school diploma
  • Two years administration experience in a university setting.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and social media.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
