This position offers flexible scheduling with varying hours between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM, including rotating weekends, and guarantees a minimum of 20 hours per week. Responsibilities: Verify necessary information and records in the medical record and computerized scheduling system. Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patients' appointments and relay necessary messages to staff and providers. Greet and register patients in a polite, prompt, helpful manner and provide any necessary instructions/directions. Inform appropriate department/person of person's arrival, performing appropriate check-in and check-out functions. Maintain clean, orderly waiting area, including beverage area and reading materials. Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments. Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and provide information. Maintain and update current information on physicians' schedules, ensuring patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed. Complete necessary paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals and use computer system to generate information necessary for billing. Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures and maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Utilize appropriate modules of the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, entering charges, co-payment collection/reconciliation, and other tasks. Required: High school diploma or GED is required. One (1) year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
