Description
UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is hiring a full-time Office Assistant II to join our Radiation Oncology Department at the UPMC Divine Providence campus. This is a day shift position, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays, offering a consistent 40-hour work week. Responsibilities: Verify and update patient information in the medical record and scheduling system; prepare charts for upcoming appointments. Complete necessary paperwork, including encounter forms and referrals; generate billing information using the computer system. Maintain a clean and welcoming waiting area, including beverage and reading materials. Greet and register patients promptly and courteously; provide directions and instructions as needed. Answer questions regarding appointments and testing; perform check-in and check-out procedures. Assist with inpatient billing processes. Support physicians with transcription and dictation concerns; review documentation for accuracy. Process medical records release requests in accordance with policy. Monitor office supply levels and assist with ordering and inventory management. Maintain and update physician schedules; ensure accurate patient scheduling and appointment confirmations. Answer and screen phone calls, take messages, and provide information in a professional manner. Schedule diagnostic testing and obtain insurance authorizations, verifications, and referrals in a timely manner. Use the financial management system to schedule appointments, verify information, enter charges, collect and reconcile co-payments. Coordinate, schedule, and reschedule patient appointments; relay messages to staff and providers as needed. High school diploma or GED Three years of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Word processing and computer experience required.
