Yates Industries is looking for an Office Assistant in our Decatur, AL plant!  Duties and Responsibilities: * Answer incoming phone calls and respond appropriately by forwarding calls, taking messages, etc. * Assist customers, vendors, applicants, or any other visitors in lobby. * Responsible for general office duties including various typing, letter creating, processing mail, filing, and switchboard coverage to direct calls and receive messages.  * Provide customer assistance for general questions on orders, shipping information, and copies of documents.   * Scan all invoiced/closed orders with prints; place all scanned closed orders into shred bin OR file in closed order file cabinets, whichever applies.  * Manage uniform invoices and employee uniform records. * Assist with pricing research for miscellaneous items. * Check and verify shop floor packaging/boxes throughout the day. * Scan stock runs, sales orders, and shop documents. * Shred scanned documents. * Maintain SDS sheets in compliance with OSHA requirement. * Enter Job Routing utilizing standard templates and Work Center Sheets. Attach applicable routing to drawings. (See RTWI-23-03) * Coordinate (schedule) movement of shop floor packets. * Other duties as assigned Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Made2Manage, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Outlook.  Education/Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:  * Excellent communication skills * Good computer skills * Ability to work independently or with a team * Scheduling, production, machining background a plus Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
