This position will be located in our downtown Madison location (201 E. Washington Ave.). After a period of training and orientation, the person hired into this position may request to work up to two days/week remotely.
Our office is located near a wide variety of restaurants and food carts, live music and events, the farmer’s market, B-cycle rentals, lakefront parks, the Capital City bike path, and multiple bus routes.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will provide broad program support to the Equal Rights Division. Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform receptionist duties, including answering phones and assisting customers in person.
  • Assist with word processing, filing, copy work, purging files as needed.
  • Fills orders from the Voice Response Forms Filler Program, including retrieving data, requests of materials, laws, brochures, and other materials.
  • Back up other program support positions during vacation/absences.

You need to have the following experience:

- Performing basic office tasks (filing, data entry, mail processing, answering phones, or similar).
- Using basic office software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, email, or similar) in an academic or business setting.
- Providing a diverse array of services to meet customer needs (e.g. answering questions, explaining processes, providing resources, escalating issues, etc.).
- Organizing/prioritizing work and communicating with others to achieve business goals.
Any of the following experience would be nice to have:

- Working in a public sector, legal, or similar environment.
- Communicating with angry or upset customers in a sensitive or high impact situations.
- Explaining laws or regulations to customers.
