MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Comprehensive working knowledge of office practices and procedures and office equipment is needed along with professional communication skills and experience in creating and editing letters, memos, and correspondence. Demonstrated ability to manage an office, supervise multiple subordinate staff members, and provide direct administrative support is also required. Other qualifications include the ability to remain organized, accurately enter data, plan and prioritize assignments, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team-driven environment. The qualified candidate will lead by a positive example, learn and accept constructive criticism, respond quickly and effectively in addressing issues and questions, and pay close attention to detail.

The Chesterfield Public Defender’s Office is seeking to fill an Office Manager position that will serve our mission of protecting and defending the rights and dignity of our clients through zealous, compassionate, high-quality legal advocacy. The Office Manager reports to the Chief Public Defender of the Chesterfield office and is employed at-will.

Duties:
The Office Manager provides direct support to the Public Defender, supervises Support Staff and will be the point of contact and coordinate the daily activities of the Public Defender’s Office. This position will communicate and interact with the public, office colleagues and judicial personnel. Other duties include: assisting the appellate attorney by developing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the appellate process, continually monitoring the status of all appellate cases, and assisting and supporting in the creation and filing of all appellate work. All other duties are as assigned.
