About the role Kernel is growing - and we’re looking for an Office Manager / Workplace Experience Coordinator to own how our Auckland office feels, functions and flows. This is a hands-on, in‑office role with real scope to make it your own. With Kernel moving into a new office, you’ll have a rare opportunity to shape our workplace experience from the ground up - setting the rhythms, rituals and practical foundations that make the office a place people genuinely want to come into. You’ll be the go-to person for the office: keeping everything running smoothly, creating a warm and welcoming experience for our team and visitors, and stepping in quickly when things need attention. You’ll work closely with a senior leadership team and founder who move at pace, so this role will suit someone who’s comfortable working in the grey, using initiative, and taking ownership without needing constant direction. What you’ll do Own the day-to-day office operations and facilities, ensuring the space is welcoming, well-stocked and runs seamlessly Be the first point of contact for the office - welcoming visitors, candidates and new starters, and setting the tone for their experience Manage new starter onboarding logistics, including desks, equipment, access, welcome kits and first-day set-up Provide first-line IT and AV support, resolving everyday issues and coordinating with our external IT partner when needed Manage office vendors, suppliers and the office budget, ensuring high standards, reliability and value for money You’ll be great if you bring Experience in an office management, workplace experience or operations role in a growing or fast-paced environment A proactive, practical mindset - you notice what needs doing and take action without waiting to be asked Confidence balancing multiple priorities while keeping things calm and organised Comfort troubleshooting everyday tech issues (Wi‑Fi, laptops, printers, meeting rooms) Strong judgement, discretion, and the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and a fast-moving founder Bonus things you could bring along to the role Background in hospitality, events or customer experience Experience planning team events, offsites or people moments First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) A genuine interest in building inclusive, thoughtful workplace experiences Why You’ll Love it at Kernel Shape and evolve the workplace experience from the ground up in a growing fintech Enjoy real ownership and autonomy - this is not a tick-the-box office role Work with a collaborative, down-to-earth team where initiative is genuinely valued Competitive compensation package Health insurance, parental leave top-up, and professional development support Extra staff holidays, great coffee, office snacks, and a dog‑friendly office Join our team Not sure you meet every requirement?
