The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the position of Officer, Community Land Access Agreements About the role In liaison with Senior Land Officer, organise landowners, Geotech Engineer and Surveyor for identification of mine impacted areas for compensation; acquire and free up customary land for development of the mine by conducting field assessments of gardens and other improvements, bush areas and prepare claims for payment to landowners In this role, you will. Effectively apply relevant PNG Land related legislation relating to land grievances Apply Community Relations and Land Management Standard Operating Procedures in engagements with the community Demonstrate culturally appropriate communications to translate ideas from one culture to another Regularly update Land Management System and maintain accurate and historical data Investigate land related grievances, assess and make recommendations to management Develop and maintain a high level of health and safety awareness for the construction contractors and their teams ensuring all work is carried out safely and complying with all government and mining regulations Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures About You To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience You will demonstrate a ‘One Team’ approach, providing effective leadership and development for your local team to reinforce NPL’s culture and values, always promoting a safe work environment. The position requires a high energy individual, hands-on management style and desire to continuously improve you and your team’s knowledge and systems and methods of work. The ideal candidate must have: Degree in Land Administration or Land Studies Significant field experience in customary and alienated land administration Knowledgeable in relevant Mining Acts/Legislation, map reading, surveys and basic geotechnical principles Experience of land administration in the Highlands of PNG Negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Patience, integrity, impartiality and ability to handle potentially explosive situations Strength of character to make tough decisions and hold to them despite criticism Ability to communicate and interact at all levels both inside and outside the operational areas Ability to read and write English at an Upper Secondary School standard with strong report writing Mobilization Requirement This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
