It also has a state-of-the-art facilities for plant tissue culture, molecular biology and seed banking. [What you will be working on] The Tissue Culture Laboratory at the Singapore Botanic Gardens supports SBG’s orchid hybridisation programme and contributes to native plant conservation through the research and development of micropropagation techniques. You will assist with micropropagation research on orchids in the genus, Spathoglottis. This includes, assisting with the micropropagation and sub-culturing of tissue-cultured plantlets, and related work such as the preparation of sterile culture media and reagents, chemical stock-taking and general lab maintenance, and performing any other duties as required. [What we are looking for] - Area of study in biotechnology or horticulture and landscape management, or a related discipline, or relevant experience in tissue culture or related work will be an advantage. - Be able to work independently, but at the same time be a strong team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude. - Have basic Microsoft Office skills. - Have an interest in plants and an inclination towards laboratory work that requires manual dexterity. - Be meticulous, patient, able to work under pressure and meet targets.
