The NPL now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Officer – Environment Management System (EMS) – Environment (14550). About the role Reporting directly to the Senior Advisor – EMS, the Officer -EMS – plays a key role in supporting the daily administrative operations of the Environmental Management System. The position is vital for developing, implementing and continuously improving NPL’s Environmental Management System (EMS), under the ISO 14001 framework. In this role, you will: Conduct environmental inspections and observations Present environmental content at pre-starts Support the team with audits and investigations Present environmental inductions to new starters Draft and deliver environmental topics to site staff Review management plans and procedures. Enter data as directed by Supervisors Promote environmentally sound work practices Be safety conscious and observe NPL Health and Safety Policy Perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor or dept manager About You To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences: Tertiary (Degree) educational qualification in Environmental Science or Engineering. Instinct and drive for educating NPLs workforce on best practice environmental management Knowledge of environmental hazards and risk management. Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001. Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access & PowerPoint) Excellent English spoken and written Be a team player, willingness to learn new skills and take initiative in the role Must have a valid PNG Driver’s License Mobilization Requirement This is a local position, requiring the candidate to reside in the Porgera Valley in their own accommodation. The role operates on 20 days on and 8 days off roster. Successful applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for candidates who progress past the interview stage.) Applicants must also hold a current Police Clearance Certificate, issued within the last six (6) months.
