Description

Omega 365 Consulting is a leading supplier of highly skilled project personnel in the oil and gas, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors. We offer a wide range of consultant assignments, featuring many of the most exciting projects in Norway and internationally.

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Offshore Crane – Package Responsible Engineer (PRE) to support one of our major projects to manage the technical, commercial, and execution aspects of offshore crane packages from concept through delivery and commissioning. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all crane systems meet project requirements, regulatory standards, and are delivered on time and within budget. You will interface with internal disciplines, suppliers, and third parties to ensure optimal technical solutions and alignment across project phases.

  • Serve as the single point of contact and owner of the offshore crane package throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, scope of work, and datasheets for the offshore crane package.
  • Evaluate supplier technical offers, lead technical clarifications, and participate in tender evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant offshore lifting regulations (e.g., DNV, NORSOK,…) and project-specific standards.
  • Coordinate with procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure timely delivery and integration.
  • Manage interface alignment between the offshore crane system and other topside structures and systems (e.g., structure, electrical, instrumentation, safety).
  • Review and approve supplier documentation, such as drawings, calculations, and quality plans.
  • Follow up with suppliers through FAT, delivery, and installation support.
  • Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and HAZOP/HAZID workshops.
  • Ensure quality, cost, and schedule adherence throughout package execution.

Key Deliverables:

  • Complete and approved technical specifications and scope of work
  • Evaluation reports and recommendations for supplier selection
  • Reviewed and accepted vendor documentation (drawings, calculations, procedures)
  • Interface control documents and design integration records
  • FAT and installation support documentation
  • Punch lists and close-out documentation for handover to commissioning
  • Regular progress and status reports for engineering and project management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Master degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Extensive relevant work experience can compensate for lack of formal education.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in engineering or package management roles within offshore oil & gas or marine industries.
  • Proven experience with offshore cranes, lifting equipment, and related mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards and regulations (e.g., DNV-ST-0378, NORSOK R-002).
  • Hands-on experience in managing vendors and technical documentation in large EPC projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team across engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Excellent communication skills and a structured, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in technical software and tools such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and document management systems (e.g., IFS, PIMS, SharePoint). Offshore safety certification is an advantage.
  • MS OFFICE, IFS/PIMS or similar, 3D modelling/CAD
  • Language skills: English
