Description
The Offshore Medic / HSE Officer supports the RQHSE Department at both Corporate and Project levels during offshore cable installation and subsea operations. The role combines primary emergency medical response duties onboard vessels with field HSE supervision responsibilities, ensuring compliance with company policies, international maritime regulations, and client requirements. HSE topics are not part of the initial mandatory knowledge, specific training will be provided. The position holder is responsible for providing immediate medical care, promoting a strong safety culture, and supporting the implementation of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across offshore operations. Responsibilities Emergency Response & Medical Care: Act as the primary medical responder onboard for trauma, illness, and injury cases. Provide advanced first aid and emergency stabilization prior to potential medical evacuation (MEDEVAC). Coordinate medical evacuations with vessel Master, client representatives, and onshore medical support. Maintain 24/7 medical readiness during offshore projects. HSE Compliance & Safety: Conduct, monitor, and enforce health and safety procedures, including risk assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations. Medical Administration: Manage, inventory, and maintain medical equipment, supplies, and documentation, including daily medical logs and health records. Occupational Health: Implement health surveillance programs, monitor work environments for hazards, and manage industrial hygiene. Training & Hygiene: Deliver health and safety training to personnel, ensure hygiene standards, and coordinate with onsite management and onshore doctors. Promotes occupational health & safety and environmental responsibility within the organization, so as to develop safer and healthier ways of working; General Adheres to and implements Asso internal RQHSE management system requirements and operational quality, health, safety and environmental procedures; Makes sure that Asso is aware of and complies with all legislation in relation to the use of its plant, equipment and substances, marine means, as well as in all workplace and offshore activities; Plans and ensures that audits/inspections are carried out onshore and offshore to establish that Asso meets: current legislative requirements; client/project requirements; internal Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental targets; Document Production Assists in developing Asso and project specific HSE policies, procedures, manuals and programs; Supports the implementation of HSE Improvement Plans; Maintains all company manuals updated Creates risk assessments and provides solutions to minimize risks; Participates frequently on the reports to be prepared regarding the status of the occupational HSE program as requested by management; Attends client’s HSE meetings & technical meetings; Conducts accident/incident/near missed investigation; Travelling Overseas travelling and offshore participation in line with business requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (University or Technological Institute) . 1-3 years previous experience in occupational health, emergency medicine, or industrial settings is typically required.
