This includes on-site housing for foster youth who need a stable living environment in order for them to excel academically. JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: On-Call Substitute Teacher Employment Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal Reports to: Office Manager Position Summary: The Samueli Academy Substitute Teacher has the opportunity to supervise and support students in their classes by following the lessons left by the teacher. Candidates must possess the ability to supervise and care for students from 7th to 12th grade while maintaining a structured, safe and educational environment. Requirements Major Areas of Responsibility: Follow lesson plans left by teacher. Maintain proper health and safety procedures on campus. Model professional behavior and attire. Model and implement positive reinforcement tools to assist in behavior modification. Assist with general housekeeping tasks, including sanitizing high-touch areas, organizing the classroom, etc. Communicate professionally and timely with staff supervisors. Follow and apply Samueli Academy policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements: Valid 30-Day Substitute Teacher Permit or Valid California Teaching Credential required. Prior experience working with middle/high school age children. Must be a minimum of twenty-one years old. If applicable, possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance. Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification. Ability to remain flexible, innovative, and adaptive to change. Working Environment / Physical Requirements: Primarily a classroom environment. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs.
