We are currently looking for On-Call Teachers who have strong interpersonal skills and find joy in working with children and adults. The ideal candidate will be committed to learning and teaching in emergent, project-based ways, lead by example for the children and ensure a positive and collaborative work environment with all teachers in the classroom.

WHAT YOU BRING (PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Minimum one year experience working with children
  • Early Childhood Certification - ECE Level 2 or 3
  • Reggio-inspired or Montessori experience is an asset.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Criminal Record Check, with Vulnerable Sector Check, within past 6 months (may be obtained upon hire)

Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make a difference every day!
  • Spark imagination, build self-esteem and help children discover new things each day.
  • Guide children in self-motivated learning, helping stimulate their natural desire to learn.
  • Encourage children through role modeling and guidance to respect themselves and others.
  • Collaborate with classroom teams for planning and implementation of weekly lesson plans.
  • Plan open ended activities with an emphasis on process orientation and developmentally appropriate curriculum with age-appropriate and individualized activities.
  • Be responsible for reporting challenges, successes and competencies of each student to the Director or to parents on a regular basis.
  • Supervise the classroom, helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently and respect themselves and others.
  • Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring and safe environment for the children.
  • Assist children with self-care (i.e. dressing, diapering, feeding).
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Teachers and Program Supervisors.
