Description

WHO WE ARE

DblR Initiative is a newly established, registered not-for-profit charity based in Victoria. We are currently in the early development stages of building our service model and team. While our systems and processes are still growing, our mission is clear: to provide safe, discreet, and immediate relocation support for individuals and families escaping domestic violence any time of day or night (24/7).

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The qualities you possess are central to the reputation and trust of DblR as we are dealing with survivors of domestic violence and crisis relocations. While formal trauma-informed training is not required, an understanding of how to approach survivors with patience, empathy, and calmness will be highly valued in the selection process. We need:

  • At this early stage of development, we need drivers to live in, or around 1-1.15hrs from Geelong CBD, until further expansion.
  • Drivers who are flexible and can drop what they’re doing when urgent help is needed - dependable, reliable, comfortable being on-call and quickly responding no matter what time it is, also willing to back up each other up when the roster requires more hands.
  • People who are motivated by genuine compassion and desire to make a difference, have empathy without judgement, and handle situations with kindness, sensitivity, and calmness, handling any conflicts without escalation.
  • Individuals who can work respectfully with survivors, children, and pets - must have clear communication skills and be able to manage most household pets.
  • Drivers must be physically capable of securing items and pets into the vehicle, ensuring seatbelts, carriers and restraints are properly secured. Note: This is not a full furniture removalist service but rather survivors being able to leave with essential items with dignity. There is no physical carrying by the drivers - you are only securing everything in place for safe transport.
  • It is crucial that drivers understand that every relocation is private and must remain confidential - no discussing the jobs or persons with anyone outside the organisation and must be sensitive and alert to the risks of DV survivors being tracked or followed, although our service is to always remain discreet.
  • As part of our commitment to safety and trust, all subcontractor drivers are required to provide a valid WWCC and a full driving record. These checks ensure that the people we entrust with survivor relocations are not only compassionate and reliable but also meet the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities
  • Provide transport using either a 1-tonne van or sedan, depending on the job.
  • Support survivors, children, pets, and their essentials during urgent relocations.
  • Be available for on-call & rostered shifts and back up other drivers if more support is necessary.
